This hunting lease is leased and not available.
You have got to check out this 420+ acre hunting oasis in Cass County. For many years this was a man-made lake with several islands created by an old mill dam. It was drained 8+ years ago and has grown up into thick cover of 12' cattails, trees, brush and prairie grasses. There are 6 big islands and several smaller ones that have giant old timber growing on them. Many of the islands are covered in big old oak trees which drop tons of acorns. These islands provide great secluded hunting locations with good trees to hang your stand. Also, a separate 10 acre piece across the road, with the river running through it, is a nice little bonus hunting location.
The river and a designated trout stream still flow through the property and there are a few smaller ponds. All of these bodies of water have large numbers of waterfowl during the fall migration. The old lake bottom is relatively dry and hard enough to walk on in most places. It hasn't been hunted in the last few years and is becoming overgrown and thick. The owner has put in some trials to make access to the islands a little easier. Much of this property is undisturbed, which is sure to attract the larger bucks that love these types of hiding places.
Surrounding properties are mostly crop land and they insulate much of this lease property from the roads and neighbors. There are 4 access points on two different sides of the property. One access point is an adjoining lot from a private drive which would also make a good camp site that will not disturb the hunting.
Don't let the aerial photograph or topographical map fool you. The lake is gone and it is much more wooded than it appears.
**** Absolutely no screw in steps or anything that penetrates into the trees.
**** The four access points are described in the driving directions.
