This hunting lease is leased and not available.
This is a great spot just outside of Chillicothe Ohio right on the Scioto River. The property reminds me of something you would hunt out west. Property is located in the valley and is in row crops. There is a dike that separates the fields from the almost 50 acres of woods. Landowner says the deer are in his crops every morning and evening, and that he has pulled horns out of his tractor tires a few times.
Even though there is a dike to protect the fields, it did not look like the woods has flooded in many years. I jumped deer along the river, and there were plenty of rubs and beds wherever I looked. It will be easy to use the dike for cover as you approach your stands. You could see where deer were bedding on every high spot in the bottoms. Good mix of bedding cover and open mature trees. There are big wooded hills outside the valley that supplies this property with plenty of deer. Also, there is a large CRP field to the west of this property. You can catch the deer coming over the dike in early and late season, or hunt along the river during the rut and catch bucks cruising all day. Plus, a couple hunters could really cover this bottom during gun season.
There is a portion of woods on the South side of the river, but I am not sure you can access unless the river gets low enough. You are welcome to respectfully use an ATV on the dike, especially to set stands and retrieve deer. The landowner says they usually mow the top of the dike once a year. Just check out the pile of bucks on camera here!!!!
This area is known for big whitetails and I think this could work out as a great place for you to put a tag on one.
