The more time I spend in Wayne County, Kentucky, the more I appreciate what it has to offer. This 122-acre lease features predominantly hilly to mountainous terrain, typical of the region. While some areas are moderately steep, a solid network of trails makes it surprisingly accessible and opens up more huntable ground than you'd expect in this kind of landscape.
The property was selectively timbered about 15 years ago, leaving behind ideal habitat density for deer and other game — just the kind of cover we like to see as hunters. During my walk-through, I noted around a dozen rubs, several old scrapes, and well-used trails scattered across the lease. I covered a good portion of the ground with relative ease and identified multiple stand-worthy locations I'd hunt myself.
Be sure to check out the trail cam photo of a buck previously captured on this property — a good sign of the local genetic potential. While there are three access points into the lease, I only used one during my visit. Once leased, I'll provide a detailed map of the trail system.
