This farm sits in a county where I rarely have leases available. It's in a great location, just 20 minutes from Rockford, IL, and about two hours from downtown Chicago. If you're in Northern Illinois, this is one you will want to check out. The property has a good mix of timber, row crops, overgrown pasture-type ground, and has a creek that meanders through the center of the farm, providing a water source for all wildlife, but specifically for the deer during the pre-rut and rut. The south and southeast side portions of the farm are comprised of grown-up brush and row crops. Based on the aerial and the way it lays out, I would guess there are some does that are bedding close by not far from the tillable section. I am going strictly from the aerial photo, as I have not yet walked this farm. However, I will be there next week after I wrap up a National Deer Association class I'm attending. From what I can see on the aerial photo, there are a couple of very nice funnels that stand out, especially where they pinch down. I think there are some great opportunities on this lease to harvest a quality buck. Again, if you are hunting Northern IL do not overlook this one. You should definitely go check this one out.
