This hunting lease comprises of three parcels totaling 273 acres, with a 76-acre parcel, 80-acre parcel, and a 117-acre parcel.
The 76-acre parcel is frequented by deer traveling from neighboring habitat, with an adjacent alfalfa field serving as the favored food source. During my inspection, as I crossed the bean field, I found two shed antlers from previous years. The wooded draw had a good number of deer tracks, a couple deer beds, and rut activity evidence.
The 80-acre parcel appears to look flat but the slight dip in the field hides the grassy draws very well, these are the kind of unexpected places you will find a nice buck locked down with a doe.
Lastly, the 117-acre part is a long hillside with a wooded draw that will funnel deer as they move through the area and feed on the row crops.
All three properties are in areas that support high deer populations. Trophy class bucks are known to reach maturity in these parts; this is Decatur County Iowa!
