This hunting lease is leased and not available.
This Cumberland County lease checks a lot of boxes for anyone serious about chasing mature bucks. The property offers a great mix of habitat, with hardwood and softwood timber, bedding, and a creek that cuts through the north side of the property that provides a year-round water source. Even after going weeks without rain, this creek is still holding water, as shown in the photos. Three sides of the farm are bordered by row crops, and due to unforeseen circumstances, this farm was not planted in 25, but the surrounding ag fields will still draw deer into the farm for its cover and phenomenal acorn crop. Nonetheless, the landowner has every intention to continue farming the tillable acreage in 26. The oak population is solid and will be a key food source as deer transition from the ag fields to the acorns this fall. This farm should really heat up during the pre-rut and rut, especially along the creek bottoms and where the ridges roll down to meet the low ground. There are several natural pinch points and funnels throughout that will give you an advantage as the deer travel through the property between cover and food. The property sits in one of the best areas of Cumberland County and has everything needed to hold and grow mature bucks if hunted properly. Access is easy, and the property is located on a county road that sees very little vehicle traffic. After walking the farm, I wouldn't hesitate to hunt it myself. I'm saying it now, don't let this farm slip by you. It's in the right area and has all the right ingredients to produce a very good Illinois buck.
*Lease runs from 1 September through 30 March
*No trucks are to be driven on the farm
*ATV use is permitted for hunting purposes only - no joy riding
*NOTE: the small square cut out of the property on the west side is a cemetery - no one lives there.
*The use of permanent stands, screw-in steps, and nails are prohibited
*Upon the completion of hunting season, cameras must be removed from the property. If you leave a stand, the straps MUST BE loosened or remove them as well.
*****Harvesting of does - due to the amount of crop damage, the landowner is asking that you harvest does. If there are not enough deer taken from the property, then he will be forced to apply for nuisance tags, which he does not want to do. If harvesting does is something you do not want to do, then this lease might not be for you.*****
