This hunting lease is leased and not available. This is a farm that could easily be overlooked due to the aerial, but shouldn't be. It is DEFINITELY worth an on hands look. It's located in a pocket of zone 7 thats FULL of crp, timber and farms that are managed for big deer. This farm in particular doesn't have any large timber on it, though there are some in extremely close proximity. What it does have, are wooded fence rows on three sides that include plenty of mature trees to put stands in and multiple thick timbered ditches that act as both bedding areas and travel corridors from cover on neighboring properties to food on this one. The deer population in this general area is crazy. I pulled into the field at 8 am this morning to inspect the farm and kicked upwards of 20 deer off of where they were feeding, and then saw probably a dozen more in the ditches. There is sign EVERYWHERE, some of which shows that big bucks frequent the farm. Zone 7 as a whole is underestimated. It doesnt get the hype southern Iowa does, but some of its just as good. Another thing to remember is that non-residents can almost always draw tags in zone 7 every year. The trail cam pics were sent to me by the landowner and should speak for themselves. Newton and Grinnell are both within 10 miles of the farm, and both offer hotels, restaurants, sporting goods stores and whatever else you might need. The farm is also only about 10 miles north of I80. Respectful ATV use for hunting purposes only.
