This hunting lease is leased and not available.
In the southwestern portion of Jackson County, near the Trempealeau and La Crosse Counties borders lies this 75-acre hunting lease. It is rare that I have a landowner potentially open up a portion of their home for the hunters to rent out, but they are empty nesters now and have a completely finished basement that they would consider renting out on a nightly basis to whoever leases this property.
This is a spring turkey hunting, archery and muzzle loader deer hunting lease only. Rifle deer hunting reserved for landowner. Landowner has basically only hunted opening day of the rifle season on his property and is not yet quite ready to give that up, so the lease does not include that. He does have 3-4 ladder type deer stands on the property that he is okay with you using. Landowner also stated to me that his neighbor bordering his property on the western side does not allow any hunting. His neighbor on the northeastern side does not allow any hunting either. Rare in Wisconsin to find any property where the neighbors are not also deer hunting themselves. If you are not familiar with this part of the state, it is rolling hills with really great mix of timbered and agricultural ground. You will be amazed at the amount of White Oak trees you will find on this property. There is also a great trail system on the property that will be a great asset for access into and out of the property...
The northern portion of the timbered ground is pastured but you truly would not know it and hopefully my pictures will help illustrate that. The landowner basically put his cattle on it for a total of 4 weeks in the summer primarily to help keep the weeds and invasive type plants down. They go on for 2 weeks earlier summer, then again for 2 weeks early fall. They just came off first part of summer and will not return until next year.
Lastly, the landowners wife loves to horseback ride. She does occasionally take a trail ride through the property but also does a lot of rides throughout the countryside. Her rides through the property tend to decrease as we get into the fall months and certainly would not ride when you are there hunting but wanted to make sure you knew of this.
As the Wisconsin Leasing agent, I get the great privilege to meet many landowners each year. I think you will find these landowners to be some of the friendliest and easy going I have ever met.
There is a timber cutting scheduled for the fall of 2022. Landowner is working with logger to not have this occur until December and after the rifle deer season, but a lot is dependent on the weather and ground conditions.
This is a spring turkey, archery and muzzle loader deer hunting lease. Landowner retains rifle deer hunting rights. Respectful use of ATV for hunting related activities is okay with weather and ground conditions allow. Landowner is okay if you want to park a camper by his shed but would need to be compensated for electrical use. Better yet, you can rent the entire finished basement of his house for an additional nightly fee and not have to hassle with hauling your camper to the property. Food plots would require the permission of the landowner if possible. Landowner does want to be contacted prior to your visits to the property. Lease end July 1st each year.
